I’m not sure if the street lights are on timers, or if they have sensors to sense the light levels, or how they decide when to turn on and off… In any case, it never fails to take me by surprise when they do.
One morning towards the end of last year I was cycling to work and thinking about apocalypse scenarios. Which is completely normal, right? Anyway, just as I’d been thinking about how we’d manage when the zombies (or whatever) cause all the power to fail, the lights turned off.
There may have been a slight, “what the..?!” moment where I reverted to a child and forgot that imagining a thing happening doesn’t cause it to happen.
The moral of the story… Don’t think about apocalypses whilst cycling to work. Or something.
