Floral Easter Wreath

Floral Easter WreathHere’s another Easter card for you. It’s another response to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge which is to make your own background. Alongside that is the Time Out Challenge which has an Easter/Spring theme with the optional twist of masking, and Crafty Sentiments‘ Easter challenge. I’m also entering it to Inspiration Destination‘s anything goes challenge.

I didn’t use a layout or colour challenge in this card. When I’d read about the masking twist I immediately knew I wanted to make a wreath of sorts, masking a circle and stamping around it. It’s an idea I’ve seen a few times.

I started by cutting out a circle from a post-it note and putting that in the centre(ish) of the white card. I used my flowers from the Altenew Wild Hibiscus set, which I stamped and masked to give the impression of a wreath. Making and cutting the masks was probably the most time-consuming part of the process, but I’m keeping them all (attached to the plastic the coordinating stamp is on) so it will be much quicker to mask them in future.

I knew I would need a round sentiment, and it made sense to use one of the ones I’d been considering for yesterday’s card, which I found over here. I printed it off, cut it out, inked the edge and attached it with dimensionals.

The card still looked like it was missing something. I decided to add a strip of green to the top and bottom of the card just to finish it off.

Floral Easter Wreath 2I’m pretty pleased with how the card worked out. I really don’t enjoy cutting out circles by hand. It just does not work for me. I also feel like it might have looked better if I’d added colour to that flower in the centre of the sentiment. Otherwise it went how I hoped.

Love,

Lady Joyful
