Simple Rainbow

Simple RainbowI had fun making today’s card. The rainbow is lovely and bright – very colourful. For a moment it helped me forget that we still have snow..!

I did flip around the layout for this card, but even so it is based on the one from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I felt it would work better in landscape for what I wanted to do, and based on the outcome I’m sure I made the right decision. Asides from being flipped the card does stay true to the given design.

Two other challenges inspired this card. CASology‘s challenge prompt is doodle, and Mod Squad Challenge‘s prompt is rainbow. Putting those two together, well… I doodled a rainbow! I went through a couple of different attempts trying to get the curvature correct, and get the colour balance exactly how I wanted it.

The sentiment seemed ideal to go with the rainbow. I stamped it in purple as it would be sitting under the purple of the rainbow. Given the choice I would have used a slightly brighter purple, but I think my Seedless Preserves Distress Ink worked well enough.

I decided on silver for the strips down the side of the card because I wanted something that would neither detract from nor clash with the rainbow. It worked out well, giving a nice effect without being too bold.

Simple RainbowOverall this card was quick and easy to put together, and turned out very nicely. It’ll be a good card to send when I write to one of my penpals, whenever I manage to find time for that!

Love,

Lady Joyful
