This could quite possibly be my favourite of all the cards I’ve made! I’m so happy with how it turned out. It’s a Christmas card, as you can see. I made it as a response to this month’s Rudolph Days challenge, as well as being my second entry to Sweet Stampin’ Christmas‘s Cute Christmas challenge. I’m also entering it into three(!) of Craftyhazelnut’s challenges – the Patterned Paper challenge, Christmas challenge (use a sentiment), and Extra Christmas challenge.
I started by hunting down a digi stamp to use. This is the one I decided on. I coloured it digitally using the same technique as yesterday. It went a lot quicker because the lines on the stamp itself were cleaner so I was able to use the wand tool to select the sections for colouring. The colours themselves are pretty self-explanatory. I added hints of blue to the snowman and more to the snow beneath him, just to give a bit of shape to them and make sure they weren’t disappearing into the background.
Once the picture was coloured I printed it off and cut the paper to size. I wanted to add a patterned paper behind the image and chose one with a subtle snowflake pattern in silver. I considered mounting the image panel but didn’t have any paper I thought would be suitable so instead I edged the paper with silver ink to help it stand out.
For the sentiment I went with “Hyvää Joulua” which means Happy Christmas in Finnish. (Actually I don’t yet have any Christmas sentiments in English so it was an easy decision!) I stamped it in black, cut out the panel and edged that with silver ink too.
Assembling the card was pretty simple. I covered the card with the patterned paper, then added the image on top. I was considering putting the image centrally on the card but decided that it looked better pushed to the side. Finally I attached the sentiment using foam tape to raise it up slightly.
As I said, I’m really happy with this card. I think it’s very cute, simple, and the colours work well together.
