Fairy Princess

Fairy PrincessThe second card I made today was a bit more time-consuming than the first, though most of the time involved was colouring the image. The rest of the card came together very quickly and easily. For this card I used the layout from Retrosketches, the fairies and magic theme from Crafts and Me, and the tutu inspiration image from Inspired By All The Little Things. I also added in anything goes from A Bit More Time To Craft.

The first order of business was locating a digi stamp to use, as I don’t have any physical stamps that are suitable. A quick search on Pinterest found me this one. I digitally coloured it, going for a pink outfit in keeping with the pink of the inspiration image. I decided to do her wings blue though as a bit of contrast. I also got rid of the butterflies from the background.

Once I’d printed out the fairy princess I cut the panel she was on down to the needed size. I wanted to stamp the sentiment near to her outstretched hand rather than below her. I used Lawn Fawn’s Jessie’s ABCs to write “DANCE” and “fairies”, then masked off and used “WITH” from the “Fly Away With Me” sentiment in the Panduro Hobby Balloon set. The fonts don’t work quite as well together as I would have liked, but they’re good enough.

I cut a panel of pearlised pink card to be the bottom panel on the card.

The sketch suggests using twine around the top of the card. I decided to go for a pale pink ribbon as it seemed fitting for the theme of the card. I added a white bow to it for a bit of extra interest, and because I just happened to have one on hand.

Then it was simply a case of sticking all the components down to the card base.

I’m relatively happy with how the card turned it. It’s definitely a very girly card! I feel like it’s a bit plain, and maybe a patterned paper would have been preferable for that lower panel, but other than that I’m happy with it.

Love,

Lady Joyful
