Camera Celebrations

The first card I have to share with you is another one featuring a camera! It’s a response to four challenges. The layout comes from My Favorite Things. Inspired By All The Little Things provided an inspiration photograph with a lovely blue camera, and lots of silver tones in the image too. The Paper Players are looking for a CAS celebration card, whilst The ABC Challenge is anything goes.

Oh and incidentally, I could not think of a name for this card so… Yeah…

My starting point was, of course, the camera. I knew I wanted it to be stamped onto blue paper to bring in that lovely blue in the image. I didn’t have a blue the same shade but found one that seemed close enough. (I actually found two, and my husband said they’d be perfect mixed together! Shame we can’t mix paper colours like that!) I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp my camera which comes from My Mind’s Eye My Girl stamp set.

Next I decided I would use washi tape for the narrow strip along the bottom of the card. The washi tape I have is silver which seemed fitting with the silver on the camera. I also decided to incorporate silver by adding a circle of foiled silver card to go behind the camera. I like how this is almost indicative of the flash on the camera in the inspiration image. I did not enjoy cutting out the circle though…

Next I went through my stash looking for a paper to use for the other panel. I wanted something to incorporate the lovely blue again. I found the brown with blue dots that you see in the picture and decided it would work well alongside the dotty washi tape.

I then started assembling the card. I stuck down the washi tape first, then used my tape runner to adhere the dotty paper above it. I decided to switch the side of the circle compared to the layout. I stuck the circle up on foam tape and the camera on another layer of foam tape to really make it pop. At this point I decided I needed to add a sentiment, especially as I wanted to tie in the celebration challenge! I took the “celebrate” stamp from Altenew’s Super Script and stamped it onto white card. I then fussy cut it and used Tombow Multi Mono Liquid Glue to stick it in place.

I’m surprised how happy I am with this card. It came out really well! I think the different components work nicely together, and it seems like a good response to all the challenges. I doubt it’ll win any prizes, but I’m pleased with it.
