Here’s a card I made just before my trip home to see husband (I’m back now!) I made it in a bit of a hurry… It’s a response to the Muse challenge combined with the sketch from Global Design Project.
I started by watercolouring my background. I used a combination of different reds and yellows to get the colours how I wanted them. I then trimmed the panel down to the size I wanted based on the given sketch.
I don’t have any flowers that would work for silhouetting, but I remembered I had this tree which is an oak by Stamperia. I decided that would work! I don’t have my embossing powders with me, and don’t have any white ink, so I wasn’t sure at first how I would approach creating the silhouettes. After some thinking I decided to stamp them in metallics, with the thought being using three different shades would allow for an impression of depth.
I stamped first the bronzey colour which doesn’t actually show up as well as I would like… I probably should have stamped it on the lighter side of the background! I then stamped the silver and the gold. They all came out a bit messier than I would prefer, but let’s say it is artistic.
I then went on to stamp my sentiment. It is from Avery Elle’s Petal Panel. Finally I assembled the card which was simply a case of adhering the panel to the card base using my tape runner.
I like the idea of this card but it didn’t turn out as well as I would prefer. Probably because I was in a rush! I think if I were to do it again I would definitely prefer to emboss the trees, which would help them stand out better. I also think I should have matted the painted panel on a piece of black card stock. I did consider it, but couldn’t find a suitable piece in my stash!
Love,
Lady Joyful
I really like it! I don’t think it needs a black mat at all? It’s nice and subtle without it.
