Our current solution for being able to sleep at night is that Lola and Elvis go in the cat room and Sampson is in with us in the main room. That way Lola and her yelling is not close to us, and Sampson is not able to be scratching at the door all night. Plus he doesn’t want to, because he’s happy to just sleep on my legs.
Incidentally, the cat room is actually the bedroom, which we have decided not to use because it was impossible to sleep there with Lola yelling right behind the door all night… And the main room is, well, the other room. We’ve joked that it’s five rooms in one – it starts with the kitchen, then dining room which merges into the craft room which is next to the bedroom and that leads onto the living room. Definitely a room with a lot of designations.
I suggested earlier that on Friday we try having all the cats being free for the night. Husband is reluctant because he expects Lola to yell at us when we’re trying to sleep. Which is possible. But I kind of feel mean shutting her and Elvis away whilst Sampson is allowed to be with us. Plus if we manage to have them in the room whilst we sleep and actually succeed at sleeping perhaps we could move the bed back to the bedroom.
I don’t really expect it to be a successful experiment. But it might be worth a try…
