Anniversary Cats

Anniversary Cats

I made this card for us to give to my husband’s parents for their anniversary. I didn’t have any challenges in mind for it at the time, but I’ve decided to enter it to CASology‘s soft challenge (because cats are soft!) and Addicted to Stamps and More‘s anything goes challenge.

I started by stamping two of the cats from The Greeting Farm’s Purfect Cats stamp set using MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. I then coloured them in with watercolour pencils, using some very simplistic shading, and blended the pencil out with my Wink of Stella to add a bit of shimmer. My colour choices were actually inspired by my in-laws! It’s not perfect, but I was aiming for the fur colours to be reminiscent of their hair colours.

Once I’d finished colouring I used the coordinating dies to cut out the cats. I then worked out how I wanted to position them on my card base so that I knew where to stamp my sentiment. I ended up building my own sentiment using letters from Lawn Fawn’s Jessie’s ABCs which I again stamped with the MFT ink. I used my MISTI so that I could make sure I had everything lined up properly, and to enable me to double stamp for a really crisp impression.

Next I wanted to add some hearts coming up from between the cats. I decided to use the cluster of hearts from CAS-ual Friday’s Calm and Loving set which I stamped between the cats using some red pigment ink.

Finally I adhered my cats in place using Tombow Multi Mono Liquid Glue. I did manage to misalign somehow along the way and the hearts ended up closer to the darker cat rather than being evenly between the two… But it works anyway, so never mind.

I’m pretty pleased with how this turned out. It’s sweet and simple. If I were to add anything it might be some kind of embossed frame around them. But it works well enough without it!

Love,

Lady Joyful
