Forever Shaker

Forever ShakerI feel like it’s been a long time since I last made a shaker card. Checking through my archives though it looks like I made one last month, which is actually not that long ago… In any case, the idea I had for this card seemed perfect for a shaker, so I went ahead and made one!

The card base that I used as my starting point is actually one I’d created some time ago for another project but wasn’t happy with. It’s made from pearlised pink card which I dry embossed with the lattice embossing folder from Sizzix’s Butterfly Lattice set.

I then took a panel of white card, the same size as the card base, and die cut it. First I cut out the word “forever” from a Carta Bella die set. I set aside the resulting word and its negative pieces, which I may use for another card. I cut the same word from a snippet of black too. I then took a heart die and cut that too. I again set aside the pieces that came out. This left me with a white panel that had a hole shaped like a heart with a couple of odd spikes coming off of it.

Next I put double-sided tape onto the back of the panel around the opening. Turning it right side up I stuck in the black “forever”, which at this point was only held by the very ends. I then flipped it back over and removed the backing from the double-sided tape, added some dots of glue to the word, and adhered a piece of acetate into place over the window. I then applied a double layer of foam tape to the back of the white panel.

My sequin selection is rather lacking at the moment, but I managed to find some silver and black sequins that seemed like they would work well enough. I put them onto the card base and pressed my white panel over the top. And the card was finished.

Forever Shaker 2I’m fairly happy with this card. I like the look of the slightly inlaid die cut. The shaker elements works nicely and the CAS look of the overall card works well too. I’m not convinced by the colours of the sequins, but as I said, I worked with what I had available. I do think sequins that tied in the pink a bit more could have been a good addition, but I didn’t have any.

Love,

      1. wow that sounds a tad complicated but hope to see it some time 🙂 I might make one for a kids birthday that is coming up soon that way the number would really stand out.

      2. If I make it (and it works 😉 ) I’ll definitely be blogging it 🙂 That sounds like a great idea – I feel like children particularly appreciate interactive cards!

      3. That’s great! If you don’t mind me asking, where would I find your blog? When I click on the link by your name it tells me the page doesn’t exist.
