Forever You & Me – SSS Blissful Card Kit

Today was one of those days that I just wanted to paint some flowers. So I did! I’d had the rough idea for this card in my mind for a while now, and it was really fun to actually make it at last.

I started by stamping the large floral image from the Floral Bliss stamp set which came in Simon Says Stamp’s Blissful card kit. I lined it up in my MISTI and stamped it in the top right corner of the watercolour panel which I had cut down to fit my card front. I then heat embossed it with black embossing powder before returning the panel to my MISTI and stamping the flowers again in the opposite corner.

I then began painting the images using the Daniel Smith watercolour paints that came with the card kit. I started with a simple wash of colour in each area, then once those dried I went back in and added more colour to build up the layers and give dimension to the images. I’m definitely not an expert at watercolouring, but I kept going until I was happy with it.

Next I got started on my sentiment. I took some snippets of the same Canson Watercolour Paper that I had used for my panel, and backed them with double sided adhesive. I then cut the “forever” die from Carta Bella’s Forever die set four times as well as the “you”, “&”, and “me” dies from the Sizzix Friendship Expressions thinlits three times. I stacked the die cuts together to create a dimensional sentiment. I then removed the backing paper from the bottom layers and adhered the die cut words onto the main panel.

I mixed up some gold acrylic paint with a lot of water and splattered it over the card panel for a bit of extra interest. I repeated the splatter effect with some black though I guess I didn’t clean my brush too well as there was a lot of gold in with the black. I also added a very light wash of gold across the words for a bit of extra shimmer. Finally with the panel complete I took some double sided tape and adhered it flush onto my card base.

Initially I felt like I’d ruined the card by adding the splatter. It didn’t look how I’d wanted it to. But actually I don’t think it is so bad after all. Overall I am very pleased with the card, and especially with how the watercolouring turned out. It’s a very pretty card, if only I had an occasion to use it for! (My husband probably wouldn’t be too interested in a floral anniversary card.)

Love,

  3. Hello again!! I just love how you used the floral stamp in the corners and once again they are coloured so beautifully. Fantastic idea to keep the sentiments in white and the splatters of colour add that perfect amount of embellishment. Fabulous to see you again at Happy Little Stampers!
