It’s been a few months since I last made a new baby card. Really I don’t have a lot of use for new baby cards at the moment, but there’s nothing wrong with having some in my stash! This particular card is actually mostly made up of snippets, which is very handy for working through my seemingly never-ending supply of papers!
A few months ago I used the Onesie Confetti Cut from Reverse Confetti with a whole bunch of patterned papers from my stash to create a variety of baby grows. I knew I wanted to use three for this card so I started by having a look through the ones I had, and picked out three that went together nicely. I liked the combination of blues and green tones.
I then moved on to creating my circle panel. Initially I was thinking of making it into a shaker but later decided not to do that. I found a piece of green card stock from my snippet folder and backed it with double-sided tape. I then added some green craft foam to it, followed by another layer of double-sided tape. I used two circle dies then ran it through my Big Shot to create a frame. I then ran a snippet of white through with just the larger of the two circles.
Using the frame and onesies as a guide I worked out where I wanted to position my sentiment. The sentiment comes from Reverse Confetti’s Cute As A Button stamp set. Once I’d decided where to position it I stamped it with the help of my MISTI using MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. I then coloured in the white areas of “little” with a blue pencil.
With the elements of the circle panel all ready I decided to put them together before moving on. I removed the backing paper from the double-sided tape that was on the back of the frame, carefully lined it up over the white circle, and pressed it into place. I then set it aside.
The last element I needed to create was the three strips of paper for the background. I decided to use two shades of blue from my snippets folder, and trimmed them down to the right size. I dry embossed the darker blue strip using the lattice embossing folder from Sizzix’s Butterfly Lattice set. I then checked the size against the other two strips and trimmed them down slightly to make sure they were still the same length.
I used my tape runner to adhere the three strips onto a kraft card base. I then used it again to attach the onesies to one another. Flipping the onesies over I attached some foam tape to the back of the onesies, making sure to leave space for where they would sit over the frame of the circle. I used my tape runner on the circle panel and pressed it into place before removing the foam tape from the onesies and putting them over the edge of the frame.
I do really like this card. The colours coordinate nicely, and it’s a lovely layout. The colour scheme is somewhat masculine, but I feel that this could work well for a girl too.
Love,
Lady Joyful
