Balloon Trio

I wasn’t sure if I’d get a card made to blog today. (Well, another one – my Cupcake Inspiration Challenge DT project went up this morning!) I really wanted to, but I was determined to get my Halloween Card Kit makes finished. And I’d wanted to get those done a while ago but neither my work schedule nor the weather have been conducive to it… Anyway. I ended up having a little time to get this card done, and thankfully as I already had the idea solidly in mind it didn’t take me too long to get it created!

I began by die cutting my balloons from a snippet of green mirror card using Stamplorations Shaker Balloons #3 die. I cut it three times from the mirror card, and also once from a snippet of green foam.At the same time I used the string die from the set to cut a snippet of grey through times to create my strings.

After cutting out all my elements I backed one of the mirror balloons with the foam to give it a little dimension. I then arranged the balloons and strings on my card base until I was happy with the layout.

I used my glue pen to adhere the delicate strings into place, then used double-sided tape to adhere the two balloons.

Moving on to create my sentiment I white heat embossed “Happy Birthday” from Creative Expression’s John Lockwood Lily of the Valley stamp set onto a snippet of black card. I then trimmed the snippet down to create a banner and adhered it to the card base using more double-sided tape.

I’m really pleased with this card design. It would be fun to make a set of them, all in different colours. I might actually do that sometime as I have several colours of mirror card. If I were to change anything it would probably be to pop up the black banner. Adhering it flat leaves a slight bump where it crossed the strings of the balloons. It’s not a big issue, but I’d prefer it popped up so that wouldn’t happen.
