Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #143 – Gail’s Feminine “Anything Goes” Challenge

Does anyone else think the weeks are passing really quickly?! It’s Wednesday again which means time for another Watercooler Wednesday challenge, and this week Gail is hosting our feminine themed challenge. I was originally thinking of making a birthday card, but decided to go with a thank you card instead.

I started out by stamping the base layer of the Birch Press Design Delicate Peony stamp using Altenew Frosty Pink ink. I used my MISTI for the stamping to make sure I would get a good impression, and stamped onto a panel of the same white card that I had used for my cardbase. I let the ink dry for a while before adding the next layer of the stamp. After carefully lining up the detail layer I stamped it with Altenew Coral Berry ink.

Next I took the thanks die, which is from Pink and Main, and positioned it on my panel ensuring that it would slightly overlap the flower that I had stamped. I ran it through my Big Shot to cut out the word, and made sure to keep all of the pieces that were cut out.

I found a snippet of pink paper that coordinated well with the pink ink I had used for my flower, and cut the thanks die from that multiple times. I then started layering the words together. Normally when I do this I would adhere each word to one another and then add the stacked sentiment to the card. This time though I decided to do it the other way.

I added some double-sided tape to the back of my panel behind where the word had been cut, so that the sticky showed through. I placed one of the pink die cuts into the gap, then added the negative spaces back in. I then used my glue pen to add adhesive along the word, and added the next pink word. I continued until I had all the pink pieces in place. Finally I adhered the first die cut word, the one that was cut from the card base, to the top.

I’m really pleased with this card. It’s soft, feminine and pretty, and beautifully clean and simple! I’ve really been enjoying the clean and simple style lately and I think I am getting better at getting my ideas across in this style.
