Blue Christmas Deer – TMR 75

It’s time for this year’s last challenge over at The Male Room! We’re looking for masculine cards that are about Christmas, winter wishes, or December celebrations. I went with Christmas for my card and decided to keep it clean and simple.

I started with a kraft card base and stamped the side facing deer and one of the sentiments from the STAMPlorations’ Dee’s Artsy Impressions’ Yuletide Deer stamp set. I then heat embossed it with Simon Says Stamp Steel Navy embossing powder.

Next I pulled out some washi tape that I recently got (from a supermarket – no special brand!) I decided to use white and gold tapes as I like how those colours go with kraft. I used two barrow strips of plain gold tape along the left hand side of the card, with a strip of narrow star-patterned white down the centre. I then took a white white-with-stars and ran that across the bottom, overlapping my original line of tape. I used the narrow gold again to break up the width of the white tape a little. And that completed the card!

This really was a quick and simple card to put together. I think it worked well though, and would be an easy design to recreate. It could be varied by changing up the colours used for the card base and the embossing, as well as by using different washi tapes.

Love,

Lady Joyful
