Hot Toddy

I’ve heard of the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop before, but this is my first time playing along with it. I’ll be honest – I don’t like coffee. I know, it’s terrible of me. But I am partial to hot chocolate which, as I understand it, as an acceptable alternative for the hop. Phew! My first contribution to the hop is using a freebie from one of the sponsors, Limited Runs Digital Stamps, which comes with the two sentiments to use with it.

I started by printing the stamp onto some alcohol marker friendly paper. I then coloured it in with a combination of Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers and Yosoo alcohol markers. I used SN markers for the drink itself, and Yosoo for the cup which I decided to colour a deep blue-purple. I also used SN markers to colour the little tag.

After finishing the colouring I fussy cut the image. Thanks to the thick lines and simple shape it was, for the most part, easy to fussy cut. The only difficult part was the string. I ended up cutting it a little wide, then colouring over the white with a black pen to disguise it. I then trimmed the sentiments with my paper trimmer.

I used some white shimmer card to create my card base then cut a circle of vellum to go behind my image. I lined up the sentiments and adhered them to the vellum with double sided tape, then did the same with the mug. Turning the vellum over I added more double-sided tape which I hid behind the cup and sentiments. I then adhered it to the card base.

I’m pretty happy with this card. The image was lovely to work with, and it makes a great CAS card. I had originally planned to use a regular white card base but it looked too plain. I considered embossing for added interest, but I’m glad I settled on the shimmer card as it adds even more of a wintery feel to the card.

Love,

Lady Joyful

    1. Thanks! I um… don’t drink tea either..! I’m just the worst. I do like hot chocolate, but honestly most of the time I just drink water. Anytime we visit anyone I usually get asked “Are you sure you just want water?” about 50 times, because everyone thinks it’s crazy that I don’t drink other things!

      1. Lol! Can’t go wrong with water, tbh…since I stopped smoking I always have a bottle of water with me as it does help the craving…haven’t given in though! What about stuff like Horlicks?
