If you’ve not yet checked out the latest release from Mari Ko you should! There’s some beautiful floral imagery perfect for a variety of occasions, and ideal if you’re wanting to get an early start on Valentine’s cards! I’m showcasing the Single Rose digi, and have made two similar-but-different cards using it. It’s currently on sale as part of the new release promotion,
My first card is a sympathy card. I think it’s the first specifically sympathy card I’ve ever made. I know that people often struggle with sympathy cards, but they’re useful to have on hand. I started by positioning the flower stamp and a sentiment in word, and printing them onto alcohol marker friendly paper. The sentiment is from Floral Wreath 1 which was in the November 1st release.
I chose deep, rich colours for this flower using Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers and Yosoo alcohol markers. I decided on red for the head of the rose, with a dark green for the stem and leaves. Once I’d completed the colouring I adhered the panel flush to a green card base.
My second card is lighter in colour and tone! The sentiment is from Floral Wreath 2 which was also in the November 1st release, and I arranged and printed it in much the same way as I did my first card. I chose pinks for the flower combines with yellow greens on the stem and leaves. I again adhered the panel to a card base, this time choosing a peach coloured one.
These cards are definitely clean and simple, and I love how easily they can be changed up just by switching the sentiment and going with a different colour scheme. Of the two I prefer the first card, solely because the colouring seemed to work better. I don’t think I’ve quite worked out the right colour combination for my pinks yet. I’ll have to keep trying!
Do head over to the Mari Ko store to check out the new releases! They are on sale through to the end of the month. There is also currently a flash sale with 30% off all Christmas and Autumn/Winter stamps, which ends tomorrow. You can find the sale items here.
