I’ll be honest, I don’t tend to make a lot of tags. But I wanted to have a go, and the Holiday Tag Kit seemed like a perfect starting point! Maybe it would have been more perfect if I’d made these before Christmas so that I could have used them on the presents I sent out… But hey, I can use them for next Christmas, right?!
Tag 1 – Father Christmas
My first tag uses a red tag from the kit as a base. I used MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink to stamp the belt and buttons, then gold heat embossed the buckle from the Handmade Christmas stamp set. I used a snow pen to add the trim to the top and bottom of the tag. Unfortunately my snowpen glooped and made a mess on the back of the tag. I fixed it by adhering another tag offset behind it. I then added a wide white ribbon tied with a bow of narrow red ribbon to finish off the tag.

Uniko Challenge – Christmas
Tag 2 – Kraft Mistletoe
I chose a kraft tag next. This time I heat embossed on it in gold. I used the mistletoe image from the stamp set and added two of the little sentiments. I finished the tag with some red velvet ribbon from my stash.
Challenge:
Creatalicious Challenges – Anything Goes
Tag 3 – To The Dog
As soon as I realised I could make a “to the dog” sentiment I knew I wanted to make a tag with that theme. I first stamped the paw print repeatedly across a cream tag, then gold heat embossed my sentiment on to it. I could have left off the “Merry Christmas” to make this a more generic tag. I finished by adding a black satin ribbon from my stash.
Challenge:
Moving Along With The Times – Anything But A Card
Tag 4 – Candy Cane
Tag 4 features the candy cane stamp. I repeatedly stamped it across a white tag using Altenew Ruby Red ink. I then black heat embossed a sentiment over the pattern towards the bottom of the tag. I cut several lengths of red and white twine and threaded them through the hole in the tag to finish it off.

Tag 5 – Snow
Not having used Texture Paste before I knew I had to try it on one of my tags. I laid the Mini Snowflake Stencil over the top of a red tag and masked off all but one snowflake, then applied the paste through the stencil. I left it to dry, then added stamped snowflakes around it, using embossing ink to stamp them then brushing with Perfect Pearls for some shimmer. I finished the tag with some white ribbon.
Challenge:
HLS Christmas Challenge – Anything Goes and Optional: Stencil
Tag 6 – Christmas Snowflake
Tag six is something of a twist on its predecessor. Rather than using the stencil and embossing paste I instead repeatedly stamped and white heat embossed snowflakes across the red tag. I then stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment onto a snippet of white card and die cut it with the smallest of the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Oval Stackables. I used double sided tape to adhere it to the tag, then trimmed off the overhanging edges. I finished the tag off with a white ribbon.
Challenge:
{PIN}spirational Challenge – Inspiration Image (I was inspired by the snow! As well as the pops of red, and the Merry Christmas sentiment.)
Tag 7 – Christmas Kraft
I focused on the sentiment stamps for tag number 7. I repeatedly stamped the large “Merry Christmas” across a kraft tag then heat embossed it in white. Some of the areas didn’t stamp quite properly, but we’ll just pretend it’s an intentionally distressed look! I then stamped the smaller Merry Christmas sentiment onto a snippet of black and white heat embossed that too. I trimmed it down and adhered it towards the bottom of the tag, then finished it off with some wide black ribbon tied with a bow of narrow white ribbon.

Tag 8 – Christmas Lights
I decided to turn things around a bit and create a “sideways” tag. I stamped the string for the lights and the sentiment in black, then used silver pigment ink for the metal parts of the lights (I’m having a complete blank on what that would be called…) I used red and two shades of green to stamp the light bulbs. I then added the Christmas Striped Grosgrain ribbon that came in the kit.
Challenge:
Sweet Stampin’ – Last Minute/CAS Christmas
Tag 9 – Dashing Reindeer
Tag nine is also tipped on it’s side. For this one I decided to create a simple winter scene. I masked off the lower portion of the tag to give the impression of snow banks, then ink blended over the top portion with several different blue inks. I kept the paler blues closer to the snow line and worked up to the darker blue at the top. The colour variation is not huge, but it does add a little extra interest. I then stamped and gold heat embossed the reindeer and sentiment, before finishing off the tag with some wide white, gold and blue ribbon from my stash.

Double D Challenges – Winter
Tag 10 – No Peeking
I wanted to use some of the stamps I hadn’t got to yet on my final tag. I stamped the sentiments in black, then added a present in red. I then added green presents either side. The red didn’t clean off the stamp properly so one of the presents looks a bit mucky… Plus I lost some of the detail of the stamps! But never mind. I finished the tag off with the Grosgrain ribbon from the kit.
Challenge:
Inkspirational – Gift
……….
I had fun playing with this kit, and honestly I could have made a lot more tags. I didn’t use the tag die to make any of my own tag bases. I used less than half of the ready made bases. I didn’t use any of the card, patterned paper, stickers, the braddies, bells, twist ties, paperclips… There’s a lot of the kit still left to play with! I’m looking forward to playing with it more in the future.
I think my favourite of these tags is tag 6, but I also really like 1 and 9. Which is your favourite?
Love,
Lady Joyful
