Mother’s Love

I have a plan. This week I’m going to try to share a card here every day. It’s something I’ve done in the past, but have not been managing as well recently. Yesterday was fine – I shared two cards (this and this) that were both DT projects. Tomorrow will also have a DT project. And I have things planned for Saturday and Sunday (one made, the other in progress.) So that leaves Thursday and Friday. And today’s of course, which I’ve just managed about managed to do.

I started with a kraft card base for this one, and stamped the large flower cluster from Simon Says Stamp’s Floral Bliss onto opposite corners using Tsukineko Delicata Rose Gold pigment ink which I then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Next I worked on colouring in the image. I used a variety of purples for the flowers and berries (or are they buds?) For the leaves I decided to go with a pale yellow-green, as yellow is a complementary colour to purple. Whilst colouring I somewhat regretted having heat embossed the images because the raised lines of the embossing were a bit tricky to colour around with the pencils, even with very sharp tips to them.

Once I had finished all the colouring I picked out a sentiment to add. I chose one from Altenew’s Wild Hibiscus and stamped it into the space between the images using the same rose gold ink and again heat embossing in clear.

I’m kind of happy with this card. As I said, the heat embossing made it quite difficult to colour with the pencils, which meant I ended up not putting down as many layers of colour as I would have liked. As a result the depth of colour is lacking a little. Still, it’s a pretty card and I like the layout (I’ve actually used it before!)

Love,

Lady Joyful

  2. This is a beautiful layout, no wonder you felt like using it again! I love this flower stamp, it has such a cute, whimsical look. Great idea to use that gold ink for stamping, something different! And a great look on kraft. Thanks for joining us at Less Is More!
