Yesterday was a release day for Mari Ko Creations! The first release of the new year. There’s some sweet unicorns, a couple of adorable monsters (and I’ll be sharing a card with those in a couple of days), and some very pretty flowers. For my first card showcasing the release I have a card using Flower 5, which is also available as part of the newly released Floral Collection 1 set.
I printed three of the flowers onto some alcohol marker friendly paper, then coloured them in with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. I used light greens for the leaves, and yellow and orange tones for the flowers themselves.
Once I’d coloured them all in I fussy cut them and played around with how I wanted to arrange them on my card base. I ended up cutting the leaves off of one of the flowers so that I could arrange them separately to it.
When I had an approximate idea of how I wanted them I stamped a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp’s Really Like You stamp set using MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink.
I used double-sided tape to adhere the flowers and leaves to the card base, with the central flower being popped up on foam tape for a bit of added interest and dimension.
These flowers were fun to work with and I love the clean and simple design of this card. The stamps were pretty easy to fussy cut around. This design could of course work in a variety of colours and with different sentiments. If I were to change anything it would perhaps be mixing up the sizes of the flowers a bit so that they aren’t all the same.
Do check out the release if you haven’t yet. And be sure to come back later this week to see the card I made with the monsters!
Love,
Lady Joyful
