10 Cards 1 Kit – SSS Card Kit Valentine’s 2018 (With Video)

I’ve spent the weekend playing with card kits, and now with Valentine’s just a couple of days away I wanted to share with you the cards I made with the Simon Says Stamp Valentine’s kit. The patterned papers that came in this kit are the same as the ones in the January card kit. I shared my cards from that kit yesterday so be sure to check that out for more inspiration on how to use the papers.

Card 1 – Pizza My Heart

I used a Neenah Desert Storm card base for my first card and stamped a pattern across it with the pizza images from the Foodie Friends stamp set. I used Barely Beige ink to give a tone-on-tone look. I then cut a heart from the Pebbles Inc. Forever My Always patterned paper using a Sizzix Heart framelit and adhered that to the card base with double-sided tape. Finally I white heat embossed a sentiment in white onto a snippet of black and popped it up across the heart using black foam squares.

Challenge:

Dies R Us – For The One I Love

HLS Anything Goes With Dies – Use Dies

Moving Along With The Times – Love

Uniko Challenge – Something Old, Something New and Optional: Love (The stamp set is new, and the die is old)

Card 2 – Not Type-ical

My second card uses a large panel of the Pebbles Inc. Forever My Always patterned paper. I purposefully chose one with text as I wanted it to go with the typewriter. I stamped both the typewriter and the sentiment on to snippets of white cardstock. I used pink Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers and grey Yosoo alcohol markers to colour the typewriter. For the paper in the typewriter I used Eggshell SN marker. I then fussy cut the image out and adhered it to the card across a line of the Doodlebug Loopy Love Striped Grosgrain Ribbon.

Allsorts Challenge – Love Is In The Air

Sweet Stampin’ – Girly

Card 3 – Stripes of Love

Card 3 is inspired by one of the cards I made with the January card kit. I adhered three lines of the Heidi Swapp Red Glitter Marquee Love Washi Tape to a Neenah Desert Storm card base. I then applied the love-filled heart American Crafts Valentine Mini Marks Gold Rub-on sheet on to some white card and die cut it with a Sizzix Heart framelit. I adhered it to the card with foam tape. As a final touch I snipped the legs off of two of the Creative Impressions Metallic Red Heart Brads and adhered them to opposite corners of the card base using Glossy Accents

Challenge:

Mod Squad – Heart Focal Point

Power Poppy – Love to Sparkle

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday – It Must Be Love

The Paper Players – Red, Kraft and White

Card 4 – Fruity Love

I turned to the Crate Paper Main Squeeze 6 x 12 Sticker sheet for card four. I cut myself three little squares of coordinating patterned papers and topped each of them with fruit stickers. I adhered the back-most panels with one layer of foam tape, then popped the front square up further using two layers.

Challenge:

Lil Patch of Crafty Friends – Anything Goes

Sketch For You To Try – Sketch/Layout

Card 5 – Pizza Hearts

The fifth card takes some inspiration from the previous one. This time I used hearts instead of squares, and only one is on foam tape. I topped each heart with pizzas from the Doodlebug Time For Takeout Shape Sprinkles and finished off with a white-on-black sentiment tucked into the hearts.

CAS On Friday – Dies

CAS-ual Fridays – Hearts

Fusion – Sketch/Layout

HLS CAS Challenge – Hearts

Card 6 – Sweet Honey Bear

The sixth card is very clean and simple, and was quick to make. I again die cut a patterned paper heart, and I attached the honey bear sticker along with a sentiment. I then adhered them to my red card base using foam tape.

Challenge:

CAS(E) This Sketch – Sketch/Layout

STAMPlorations Challenge – Paint It Red

Card 7 – Hey Llamas

I wanted to use the llama stickers for card seven and decided it would be fun to make it look as though the llamas are laying on a blanket. With that in mind I cut a panel of the tartan card stock, and added a strip of contrasting paper just below. I topped the tartan panel with the llamas, then added a sentiment sticker between them.

Challenge:

YNS Sketch and Color Challenge – Sketch/Layout

Card 8 – I Love Us

I use several different patterned papers for card eight. I cut some diagonal strips of the teal pinstripe paper and adhered them in opposite corners of the card base. I then added a panel of another pattern to one side and topped it with my focal patterned paper panel. Finally I added a bold sentiment using some stickers.

Challenge:

Sketch Saturday – Sketch/Layout

Card 9 – Valentine’s Panels

I again used stickers and patterned paper for card number nine. I made four panels from two different patterned papers and adhered them in an alternating panel. I added a sentiment and image sticker to the centre as the focal point.

Challenge:

MFT Sketch Challenge – Sketch/Layout

Card 10 – Happy Valentine’s Day

My final card again started with a panel of patterned paper. I laid some of the washi tape alongside it and topped that with a strip of another patterned paper which I popped up on foam tape. The final element was a sticker to finish off the card.

……….

I had fun playing with this card kit, as I usually do! I don’t think there’s a single card that I’m not happy with here. I think my favourites are two, three and five. Which do you like best? I still have plenty of product left from this card kit, and in fact as I mentioned in the video I’ve already used some of it (the stamp set and the little note cards) to make a set of punny Valentine’s cards which I’ve videoed and intend to share on Wednesday. Hopefully I can get it sorted to share on Wednesday (I have so much to do at the moment!) because otherwise we’ll have passed Valentine’s, which wouldn’t be ideal!

Love,

Lady Joyful

  1. You’re on a roll and they are all just wonderful! I do like the punny sentiments – “I love you to pizzas” is brilliant!! Thanks so much for playing along with Uniko this month. Deborah, DT.
