It’s been a few weeks since I last made a Christmas card. I figured it’s about time I change that! I went for a rather non-traditional look for my card, with a graphic design and varying shades of purple for my colour scheme.
I started by masking off the bottom of my card. I then created a little stencil by cutting a triangle out from the centre of a piece of scratch paper. I held my mask in place on my card base and ink blended through it, moving the mask along the card for each new tree. I used three different shades of distress ink for my blending – Seedless Preserves, Milled Lavender, and Spun Sugar.
Once I had finished ink blending my trees I removed the masks. I then remasked the bottom portion of the trees and ink blended some black pigment ink across to create a line of grounding below them. I also used the negative of a circle die cut to mask off an area for my sentiment. Once the circle was completely dry (a process which I hurried along with my heat gun) I white heat embossed a sentiment using stamps from Simon Says Stamp’s Handmade Christmas stamp set.
I finished off the card by adding several Love From Lizi sequins, which I adhered using Glossy Accents.
I’m pleased with this card. I think it’s a fun design and I like how it turned out. I do wish I’d been a bit more careful with my masking and ink blending, though. There are several smudges from where I had gone over the outer edge of my mask by accident.
Love,
Lady Joyful
