Beary Happy Birthday

This card was made entirely of odds and ends that needed using up. The bear is leftover from the 10 cards 1 release with Heffy Doodle that I did last year. The embossed circle he’s on was a piece leftover from making a card for tomorrow. Even the sentiment strip was a snippet. It’s good to be able to use things up!

The bear, from Heffy Doodle’s Unbearable Without You, was stamped with MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink, then coloured with Yosoo alcohol markers. I seem to recall that my lightest brown was running out at the time, which caused me some difficulty with blending. Which is slightly visible on his face. Nothing too hideous though, thankfully! Once the colouring was finished I fussy cut the bear.

My focal circle is a snippet of white card which I embossed with the Taylored Expressions Woodgrain Embossing Folder, then die cut using a Sizzix Circle Framelit. Another snippet of that white card became my sentiment strip. I placed the strip in my MISTI and stamped my sentiment. I used “wishing you a”, “happy” and “birthday” from Heffy Doodle’s Happy Snappy Crocs. The “beary” comes from Unbearable Without You, though the stamp actually reads “bearly” – I had to do some masking and shifting of the stamps to get the sentiment as I wanted it.

With all the elements ready I used double-sided tape to adhere everything into place on my kraft cardbase.

I’m quite pleased with this card. As I said in my introduction it was really nice to be able to assemble a card from elements I had to hand. All I needed to do was stamp out the sentiment and adhere everything together. I need to remember to check my scraps drawer more often to see what I have that I can use up!

Love,

Lady Joyful
