If you recognise this card it’s because I blogged about an almost identical one recently. I made both at the same time, and now seemed the perfect time to share this one as it’s ideal for our anything feminine goes challenge that is starting at Watercooler Wednesday today.
I used pink and orange pens to colour the petals and later bought in a darker red to enhance the shadows. The first few layers were blended out with water but for the later layers I didn’t blend at all, letting the strokes from the brush tip add texture to the flowers. I bought in a brown to colour the flower centres, and finished off the stems with a blue-green.
All that remained to finish off the card was adding a sentiment, which I stamped with MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink.
I like both versions of this card, but I think this is my favourite. I love the depth of colour I was able to achieve. I do like my Gansai Tambi watercolour paints, but I get much more control with the MozArt pens, which I appreciate. That said, many would argue that watercolouring is not meant to be about control!
