Stuck On You – Mari Ko Creations March 2018 Release

We recently had a new release over at Mari Ko Creations. As soon as I saw them I knew I had to have a play with the adorable cacti images from the Stuck On You set, which contains three images and two sentiments.

I started by printing one of the cacti along with one of the accompanying sentiments onto some alcohol marker friendly paper. I then coloured it in with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers and Yosoo alcohol markers..

I went for some rich dark greens for the cactus itself, colouring with the light source coming from the right hand side as is my norm. I then moved on to the pot the cactus is in. I used a mixture of brown and tan markers to create the pale terracotta look.

I chose red for the heart at the top of the cactus and tied the red in further by using it to colour in the letters of the sentiment. Finally I added a cast shadow from the image. I usually use grey for cast shadows but this time I used a very light yellow-brown tone as I felt it gave the impression of sand which seemed appropriate.

This is image is so cute and I love the accompanying sentiment. The other cacti images are really fun too. I’m looking forward to playing with them in the future and building more elaborate scenes.
