Out Of This World – TMR 82

It’s time for a new challenge at The Male Room! This time our theme is watercolour and I made a space-themed card with a galaxy background. Funnily enough this would have been perfect for our previous challenge, which was to create a space or science themed card.

For this card I started with my background. I actually had this piece of galaxy background left in my snippets folder from a previous creation. I had used a variety of watercolours to create it, then flicked white paint across it to create the look of stars. As it was already ready all k had to do was trim the piece down to the right size.

Next I took some snippets of watercolour paper and stamped some of the images from Happy Little Stampers’ Monster Mash Birthday stamp set onto it using MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink, which is waterproof. I used my MozArt Watercolour Pens to colour the images, blending out the paint with an old Wink of Stella pen, giving just a hint of colour.

Once everything was coloured I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I also cut another snippet of watercolour paper to create the ground. I arranged my die cut images then adhered them all into place.

Next I added my sentiment onto the empty space of the moon. I used my MISTI and stamped a sentiment from the stamp set with the same MFT ink.

I decided to use my We R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile Corner Chomper to round the corners of my panel as well as the card base, which is slightly larger than the panel. I used double-sided tape to adhere the panel into place on the card. As a final touch I added a googly eye to the alien.

I really like this card. It’s a fun little scene and I had a lot of fun creating it. The stamp and die set are new to me, and I can already tell I’ll get a lot of use out of them in future!
