The theme for the challenge this week at Watercooler Wednesday is often a popular one. We’re looking for feminine themed cards. Any card that you would make and give to a woman or girl is perfect for this challenge. For my design team project I created a thank you card with a gorgeous stamp and my colouring pencils.
I started by stamping a stamp from Simon Says Stamp’s Kind Flowers, which came in the November card kit, using MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink directly onto my card base. I then coloured the images in with coloured pencils. I went for quite bold colours to pop from the neutral card base. The word in the centre of the arrangement I coloured with my white Caran d’Ache pencil so that it would really stand out. Finally I used a light grey to add a drop shadow around my stamped area to help it stand off the card base.
I completed my sentiment with another stamp from the set which I stamped and white heat embossed onto a snippet of black card. I trimmed the snippet down and attached it to my card base with foam tape.
I’m really happy with this card. I love how the brightly coloured flowers pop against the card base, as does the black and white of the sentiment. The stamp really is lovely with its bold word framed by the pretty flowers. And it is a stamp that can really carry its own, not needing much added to complete the card.
