WWC167 – Gail’s “All About Christmas” Challenge

We’re looking for Christmas cards this week at the Watercooler Wednesday challenge. I decided to make a white on white card (with a touch of silver) for my project, though I slightly regret it because I still haven’t managed to find a good way to photograph white on white cards!

I began by creating my snowflake panel using a random selection of snowflake stamps and the faux turnabout stamping technique I came up with recently. I heat embossed them using Wow Cloud 9 glitter embossing powder. I then used the same embossing powder to create my banner using stamps and dies from Pink and Main‘s Snow Globe set.

I realised that having the banner directly against the snowflake panel was a bit too much, so I cut down a piece of vellum to be just smaller than the snowflake panel and layered that over it to help break it up a bit. I adhered the banner to the vellum then hid more tape behind the banner in order to adhere the vellum into place.

For my card base I decided to add three of the glitter peel offs (leftover from the April Love From Lizi card kit) to the left hand side of my card. I then popped up my focal panel on foam tape, slightly skewed on an angle. Finally I added three silver pearls to finish off the card.

I struggled with this card a bit. I had the plan to do the turnabout stamping because I’d had such fun with that technique when I came up with it, but then I didn’t really have a plan as to how to proceed from there. I ended up having to set the card aside and work on something else for a little while. Of course I did eventually come up with a way to proceed and I’m pretty pleased with the result despite what a fandango it was trying to get it photographed!

Love,

  1. Classy beautiful card. I love the white and silver. The banner is a really nice focal point and adding the Vellum piece a clever way to make it stand out on it’s own. Great card thanks for sharing how you made it.

  2. Your WOW with a touch of silver is beautiful. The vellum sentiment strip is so pretty raised on the angle like that.
I know how hard it is to photograph some cards. WOW and also mirri cards are so very hard…but yours looks great!

Thanks for taking part in the April Rudolph Days Challenge.
