The end of the month means it is time for another challenge at Creatalicious Challenges. As always our challenge is anything goes, with an optional extra theme which this time around is an easy one – add a sentiment. We are being sponsored by Fabrika Fantasy who are offering a prize of 3 digi images to our lucky winner, so it’s definitely worth coming over to join in!
I began by printing out my digi stamp. I chose to use Fabrika Fantasy’s Autumn Fairy. I know it’s the wrong time of year for an Autumnal project but the image is so pretty I just couldn’t resist it! I printed it out onto alcohol marker friendly paper and started colouring using my Spectrum Noir Illustrator Markers. I coloured her dress first using a selection of greens to give an emerald colour. I then coloured her skin and her. I’d originally been thinking of making her a fair-skinned red-head, but I ended up going with darker skin and golden-brown hair.
I kept the rest of my colours fairly muted and simple to fit with the Autumnal look of the image. I used a variety of browns, yellows and yellow-greens for the leaves. I went around the image colouring leaves at random in one colour, then when I was happy with the distribution moved on to the next, and continued until they were all coloured. I used a very deep muted blue for the berries.
Once I had finished all the colouring I trimmed down the panel and rounded the corners with my We R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile Corner Chomper. I then adhered the panel to a card base, and rounded the corners of that too. I then thought that I would have liked to mat the image before putting it on the card base, but it was a bit late for that!
The last element I needed to add was my sentiment. I chose one from the Gina K Wreath Builder stamp set, positioned it over my image and heat embossed with Love From Lizi gold embossing powder which came in the most recent card kit.
Other than forgetting to mat the image, I’m very happy with this card. I did get a bit frustrated with the image a couple of times because colouring the edging took a while and at times felt a bit repetitive. I think it was worth it in the end though as the image does look pretty good! The gold of the sentiment fits well with the colours of the card, but may not have been the best choice as at some angles it’s not the easiest to read. Silver probably would have shown better, but wouldn’t have fit the card as well. Despite the legibility issues I think gold was the right choice.
Love,
Lady Joyful
