10 Cards 1 Kit – Love From Lizi Card Kit May 2018 (With Video)

The May card kit from Love From Lizi is a tropical themed delight. The colours in it are a perfect match for the first Love From Lizi blog challenge, from which you can win £20 to spend at Love From Lizi. You can also win £20 to the shop by commenting on my giveaway – still a few hours left to enter!

Card 1 – Leaves and Sparkle

I started my first card by stamping the leaves from the Totally Tropical stamp set with MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink directly onto my card base. I then added some repositionable adhesive to the backs of the leaf masks (which come with the stencils – also available as a bundle with the stamps) and placed them over the stamped leaves. I applied glitter paste all across the unmasked areas using a sponge.

Next I cut down some of the polka dot card to create a panel for the lower half of my card. I adhered it onto the card base after edging it with gold ribbon which I layered over the leaf ribbon. Finally I used the gold embossing powder to add a sentiment to the corner of the card.

Challenge:

The Sisterhood Of Crafters – Leaves (edit – where it was chosen as one of the top three!)

Card 2 – Sequin Beleaf

I started my next card with a piece of patterned paper. I then trimmed down a piece of vellum to be just smaller than the patterned paper panel. I would have liked to use a scalloped rectangle, but I don’t have one.

I gold heat embossed some leaves and a sentiment on to the vellum, then adhered it to the patterned paper. I’d intended to leave it at that, but the sentiment seemed too small, leaving the vellum looking, in my opinion, quite empty. I decided to embellish with some sequins, and ended up going a bit overboard and having loads of them!

Challenge:

Pink & Main – Anything Goes

Card 3 – Tropical Flower Corner

I used another patterned paper panel for my third card. I trimmed a gold mirror card border to add to the patterned paper, and adhered them offset to one corner of my red cardbase. I then stamped all of the images from the stamp set, coloured them with Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers, and fussy cut them. I arranged them over the corner of my papers and adhered them into place.

In order to avoid the sentiment getting lost on the card I added some borders of gold peel offs. I then heat embossed my sentiment between them. I probably should have heat embossed first however, as I ended up melting one of the peel offs slightly and having to replace it.

Challenge:

Fusion – Sketch

Card 4 – Gold Toucan

I chose the blue and gold Aztec looking patterned paper for my third card and trimmed it down to be a panel across the bottom of my card, as I had with my first card. I edged it with a gold peel off, then added a toucan that I had die cut from the mirror card. finally I added my sentiment which I stamped with MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink.

Challenge:

Addicted to CAS – Gold

City Crafter – Birds

STAMPlorations Theme and Sketch Challenge – Things With Wings

Card 5 – Toucan For You

I started with some die cutting for my fifth card. I cut a circle of leaf paper, and a frame from gold mirror card. I also die cut three toucans – one from black, one white, and one yellow. I then rearranged the pieces to create a somewhat realistic toucan. The last element to create was my sentiment, which I stamped onto one of the wooden banners that came in the kit.

I assembled the card by first adhering the leaf circle and it’s frame together, then adhered them to the card base. I attached the wooden banner over the top and allowed it to dry into place for a moment. Finally I adhered my toucan slightly overlapping the banner, and positioned so it would appear to be sitting on the gold frame. I adhered it popped up on foam squares so that it could comfortably overlap the thick wooden piece.

Challenge:

AAA Cards – Tic Tac Toe (Gold/Friendship/Coloured Cardbase)

Sketch Saturday – Sketch (edit – where it was chosen as one of the top three!)

The Paper Players – Tic Tac Toe (Yellow/Circle/Bird)

Time Out – Wild

Card 6 – Leaf Tag

For my sixth card I decided to use one of the tags. I stamped and ink blended several leaves using EvergreenForest Glades and Frayed Leaf ink, and fussy cut three of them to arrange on my tag. I then stamped, blended and fussy cut a flower with Ruby Red and Coral Berry ink.

I worked out how I wanted to position my elements on the tag, then stamped my sentiment with the Evergreen ink before adhering my images into place. I adhered a panel of leafy patterned paper to my card base, then popped up the tag over the top. Finally I embellished with some Nuvo Jewel Drops in Strawberry Coulis.

Challenge:

Lil Patch of Crafty Friends – Anything Goes

Card 7 – Wild About Toucan

I wanted to use some of the leftover toucan pieces from my previous toucan die cutting, so I put together a toucan made in an untypical colour arrangement. I also die cut a couple of patterned paper circles. The last element to create was the sentiment for which I heat embossed in gold onto a wooden banner.

I used a leftover gold circle from another card and layered it together with my patterned paper circles, all of which were adhered flat to the card base. I then added my sentiment banner before popping my toucan up over it with foam tape. Finally I added some Nuvo Drops.

Challenge:

CASology – Jungle

Less Is More – Sketch

STAMPlorations CAS Challenge – Things With Wings

TCP Tuesday – Diecutting

Card 8 – Golden Circles

I really wanted to find a way to use the puncinella, and decided to use it as a base panel on my 8th card. I die cut a couple of gold frames, placing a circle of patterned paper within one and a circle with my sentiment within the second. I then adhered them to my card base over the top of the puncinella. I also added three of the wooden flowers, which gave me more anchor points for adhering the puncinella down.

Challenge:

CAS-ual Fridays – Flowers

Fabrika Fantasy – Flowers

Card 9 – Sequin Palm

I started my eighth card by creating a palm tree trunk. I sketched and fussy cut the trunk, then coated it with sequins. I then set it to one side and worked on my tag. I adhered the palm tree ribbon to the bottom of the tag and added a border to the top using a gold peel off. I then attached my tree trunk and created leaves/fronds with the green sequin ribbon. I adhered the tag to a patterned paper panel which also have a peel off, and attached that to my card base.

Challenge:

Craftyhazelnut’s Patterned Paper – Use Patterned Paper

Card 10 – Snippets Toucan

For my final card I checked through the snippets and offcuts I had left from my other cards. I played around with some different ways to arrange them until I came up with something I liked. I then adhered them into place on my card base. Finally I cut a toucan from a snippet of white card, coloured it with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers, then adhered it to the card.

Challenge:

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday – Animal Magic

……….

I really enjoyed playing with this beautiful kit. The stamps are lovely, the die is a lot of fun, and I love the colours. I do wish I’d managed to find abuse for the pipe cleaners, fluff and leaf sequins, but I can always use them for future projects.

Love,

Lady Joyful
