The Joyful Soul Creates

I Like Ewe

I am a big fan of cute stamp images, as you may have noticed if you regularly follow me here on my blog or over on Instagram. Lawn Fawn is a great source of cute stamps and one of the very first stamp companies I started buying from. I combined Lawn Fawn stamps and dies to create this cute summery card, which features one of my favourite animals!

I started by using some square dies to create my frames from some kraft card stock. The square dies I have are from Memory Box and are now retired, but any square dies could work. And frame dies would be even better, but I don’t have any at the moment.

Next I used Lawn Fawn’s Flower Border die and cut it several times from white card stock. Some of the pieces I cut the flowers off to leave me with just a hill border. I then coloured them all in with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. I used a yellow-green colour for the hills, leaves and stems. I then coloured the flowers using blue for the daisy-style flowers and yellow for the tulips.

With all the borders coloured up I started layering them up behind my frame. I trimmed the borders down and reused the trimmed off pieces to create more layers to my scene. I worked through until both of the frames were filled with rows of flowers and hills.

Next I stamped the sheep from Lawn Fawn’s Critters On The Farm onto a snippet of alcohol marker friendly paper using MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. I used light grey markers to add some shading and texture to the sheep, and also used a very light pink on the cheeks. I then fussy cut the image and added it into my scene in the top frame. I finished off the other frame by adding my sentiment, which is also from Critters On The Farm and stamped with Black Licorice ink.

I used some liquid glue to adhere each of the frames to the card base, lining them up with my T-square ruler to ensure I had them straight. I decided against using foam tape because they were already quite thick from all the layers of the flowers and hills.

When I had put my borders together I had placed the centre circles of the daisy-style flowers back in place and adhered them with washi tape on the back to keep them there. I finished off my card by filling in the centres of the flowers using Nuvo Drops in Simply White.

I wasn’t entirely sure how this card would come together when I started it, but I’m very happy with the end result. The sheep looks very happy frolicking through the endless meadow of flowers. I had originally planned on just using the flower border, without any plain hill lines in between, but I had a hard time getting the flowers arranged in a way that made sense without that divider between them. As a result the final card has a lot more green than I’d originally planned. It does give a nice bright, fresh look though, so I don’t mind too much!

Love,

Lady Joyful
