We’re looking for projects for occasions this week at the Watercooler Wednesday challenge. Check out the challenge graphic below if you need some help with choosing one! This time around our host is Crystal, who is our newest team member! Be sure to head over to her blog to see what she made, and give her a warm welcome whilst you’re there.
I began by masking off a section of my card base using some repositionable tape. I used the onesie die as a guide so I knew exactly how I wanted to space and place my mask.
I then started working in my ink blending. I used Mermaid Lagoon and Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxides to blend the strip until I was happy with it, spritzed it with some water mixed with perfect pearls, then removed the masks and set the card base aside.
I gave my ink blended pieces some time to completely dry before moving on to my heat embossing. I used the circle of hearts from CAS-ual Fridays’ Calm and Loving stamp set to stamp on to the onesie, then heat embossed it with Wow Cloud Nine embossing glitter.
Choosing a sentiment took a little while but I eventually found one I felt was suitable. It is from Clearly Besotted’s Mini Basic Banners II – I actually have an older version which, it seems, is different than the currently sold one. The current one does not have the sentiment I used. I heat embossed it onto the blended panel on my card base with black embossing powder.
Finally I added some foam tape to my onesie and popped it up at the end of the blended panel, which completed my card.
I think this card turned out really fun. I wasn’t sure how the colours would look together, but it went better than I’d feared! I like the idea that it could be a card for a family that has boys and just had their first girl – the swoosh of blues towards the pink. Though there’s no reason you couldn’t use pink for a boy too!
