It’s been a little while since I last shared anything here. I’ve had some health stuff going on and hadn’t realised how much it would impact my ability to create. But I’m back, with just a quick card for now. This one is my last guest design post for Sketch Saturday. It’s been fun playing along with them! Definitely head over and check out this week’s challenge – we’re sponsored by Little Miss Muffet, and you could win a prize from them if you play along with this fun sketch.
I printed my simple image, from the Best Friends Feline set, onto some alcohol marker friendly paper and did some very quick and simple colouring with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator Markers. I used a pink for the nose and inner ears, green for the eyes, and just a touch of grey to add shading to the body of the cat to give her some dimension. When I had finished colouring I used a square die to cut it out, then stamped a sentiment from The Greeting Farm above the cat using Lucky Clover Distress Oxide.
I used the same Lucky Clover ink to colour up a panel to go behind my focal image, and spritzed it with water mixed with Perfect Pearls to give some shimmer. I trimmed it down and adhered to a kraft card base.
I added interest to my focal panel by adding glitter peel offs all around the edge. I then used foam tape to pop up the foal image over the other panel on my card base. I added a little extra sparkle to the card using my Tonic Aqua Shimmer pen on the green of the cat’s eyes.
This really was a quick and simple card, which was perfect for getting back into crafting after my unplanned break. I do hope to be properly back now, but it depends how much I am able to work on things. I’ll at least be back with design team projects! This sketch lends itself perfectly to a simple card but could also work wonderfully for something more detailed and in depth. Make sure you head over to the challenge blog to see how the team interpreted the sketch, and to play along for your chance to win.
