I started by cutting a piece of watercolour paper to the size of my card front. I then painted water over it with a paint brush before sprinkling on my Black Brusho. When the powder hits the water it spreads and creates bursts of colour which is really fun. The black has orange and blue in it, which is more visible when there’s less concentration of the powder to the water. I kept adding powder until I had a fairly dark coverage in order to give the look of a night sky. I sprayed it with some water mixed with Perfect Pearls when it seemed like it wasn’t moving enough, which also added some shimmer to the sky. Once I was happy with the coverage I used my heat tool to dry it, then added stars by splattering with some watered-down white acrylic paint.
I placed my background in my MISTI to add a sentiment. I picked out the large “spooky” sentiment from the Love From Lizi stamp set that came in the September Super Kit. I white heat embossed it so that it would show up nicely against the dark background. Finally I adhered the background panel to a card base, then used foam squares to pop up my image onto it.
I’m really pleased with how this card came together. I think the background turned out really pretty – the camera really doesn’t do the colour and shine justice! The image is really sweet and pops wonderfully against the background, and fits nicely with the sentiment. I don’t really have a lot of use (or any use, really!) for Halloween cards as I don’t really send Halloween cards out. But I really enjoy making them and love the fun designs. I’m sure I’ll have more to share in the coming weeks!
Love,
Lady Joyful
