I’m back with another sneak peek of the new release at Craftin Desert Divas! Make sure you check out the Craftin Desert Divas blog to see what else is being released. Yesterday I shared a card showing the new Cheerful Snowman digi stamp, and you can see that here. Today’s card has another snowman – this time I’m using the Present Snowman digi stamp.
First I printed the Present Snowman directly onto my card base. Unlike with yesterday’s card I did not add a printed sentiment, as I planned to stamp one later. My intention was to make another one layer card.
I used my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers to colour everything. I again used a very pale blue to add shading to the snowman to give a cold feel. I used some yellow-orange for the snowman’s carrot nose and brown for his arm.
I used my darkest greys to colour the snowman’s hat and buttons. I decided to keep the band of the hat white, and I chose to add the shading with a pale creamy colour to help differentiate that from the white of the snowman. I used the same creamy colour to shade the ribbons on the presents, the cuff on the gloves, and the white areas of the scarf.
I decided to make the other stripes and dots on the scarf, as well as the snowman’s gloves, blue green. I then used a similar colour combination for the holly leaves. I intentionally made them a bit greener but not too intensely green. I used reds for the holly berries and similar reds for the presents.
I completed my scene by drawing a hill line with a fine point sharpie. I then used several different shades of true blue to colour in my sky background. I had some trouble as some of my pens seem to be drying out a bit, but I eventually managed to get a reasonable coverage.
For my sentiment I bought in the Simply Said stamp set and stamped onto the hill using Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide.
This is another really sweet image. The snowmen in this release really are lovely. I’m happy with my colour choices on this card – sometimes it’s nice to go a little less traditional. I definitely do need to work out about refilling my markers if I can find the refills for them, as it’s quite limiting when they are drying out. Don’t forget to head over to the Craftin Desert Divas blog to see more of the release, and you can shop the new release to play with these fun images yourself.
Love,
Lady Joyful
