Craftin Desert Divas | Kitty & Puppy Frappuccinos

I’m sharing a card for Craftin Desert Divas today. If you’ve been following me on Instagram you’ll recognise these cuties as the images I coloured for day one and two of The Daily Marker’s 30 day colouring challenge. With just a few minor additions I was able to turn them into a completed CAS card.

I began my card by sizing and printing the Puppy Frappuccino and Kitty Frappuccino directly onto a card base. I flipped the Kitty image so that the straws on both images would be pointing to the outside of the card.

I then coloured the images in with my alcohol markers. I used creamy colours to shade the cream on the drinks and used the same ones for the white patches on the dog. I used browns for the rest of the dog, and went with greys for the kitty. I also used greys for the symbols on the coffee cups.

I chose to go with a pinky red colour for the kitten’s straw, cherry and puppy’s cup. I then used greens for the kitten’s cup and puppy’s straw. I used a little more grey to add some grounding to the images.

I finished up my card by stamping a sentiment from Say It Big between the images. The wording slightly overlaps the cups, which I feel gives a more dynamic look. I then added a scored frame as a final touch.

I think this card came together really well. I tried to put some thought into the application of my colour. The green and pinky red, for example, both create a visual triangle for added interest. This is easier to see with the pink, but the touch of green of the cherry’s leaf creates it for the green too. Adding the frame was a quick and simple way to complete the card and looks very effective.
