With all that’s been going on recently I’ve rather neglected both my YouTube channel and my card kits. Today I’m sharing a card, with a video, using the Love From Lizi December 2018 card kit. Specifically I’m showing the beautiful effect than can be achieved by combining stamps and coordinating stencils.
I began with a card base made from the ivory card that came in the kit. I then arranged a sentiment and three of the larger butterflies from the Flutterby stamp set onto my card base. Using my MISTI I stamped all of the stamps and heat embossed with the Ivory Pearl embossing powder that came in the kit.
Next I used Distress Oxides and the coordinating Flutterby stencil to colour the butterflies. I positioned the stencil over the butterflies one at a time, masking off any nearby openings of other butterflies, and ink blended with a combination of Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxides. I then buffed away any ink that was sitting on top of the embossing, to bring back the shine.
As a final touch I bought in the Sea Breeze Nuvo Drops which came in a previous kit and added a scattering of them throughout my design.
This is pretty and simple one layer card. The beautiful embossing powder really helps to add a special touch to the design, and the stenciled colour helps to add depth to the butterflies. Whilst the butterflies could be coloured with more traditional colouring methods, the coordinating stencil really makes it easy to ink blend and quickly colour the butterflies.
Love,
Lady Joyful
