I craft on a budget and so I don’t have anywhere near the amount of supplies as many of my peers in this crafting community. Nonetheless I still manage to fall into the trap of having new crafty goodies that sit for ages without being used. The idea behind this stashbusters series to make use of supplies I have on hand but have yet to use, or have not got much use from.
For this card I wanted to use the Wonky Cross Hatch Die which I’ve been wanting to use for a while. I decided to combine it with the Favorite Puperoni stamp set. Both products are from Simon Says Stamp.
I started by working out roughly how I wanted my design arranged. I actually changed my plan towards the end, but it was good to have a starting point.
I chose a snippet of red patterned card with white dots to cut the die from. As the die is a relatively simple design it cut very easily.
Next I stamped the dog image onto a snippet of alcohol marker friendly white card using MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink. I coloured the image in using Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers.
Finally I stamped the sentiment onto black card stock and heat embossed it in white. I then cut it into strips and trimmed them down to a size I was happy with.
Having prepared all my images I worked out how I wanted to arrange them. I changed the sentiment positioning from what I’d originally planned. I then used some repositionable tape to hold all the elements together so that I could easily flip them over and apply foam tape to the back without anything shifting out of place. Then it was simply a case of removing the backing from the foam tape and adhering everything to the card base.
I love how this card turned out. I think it’s really fun and very quirky. Perfect for someone who likes pizza, or dogs, or both. And would work great as a masculine card or even a card for a teenager. The die creates a great focal point and I’m sure I can get more use of it in future. Likewise I’m sure I can get use from the stamp set more in future.
I’m hoping this stashbuster series will be a regular occurrence. No promises as I’m historically bad at keeping on track with series but I’m aiming for weekly. We’ll see how it goes.
Love,
Lady Joyful

I craft on a budget, too, but I’m thinking perhaps it’s too large a budget because my not yet used supplies are overflowing. I love your Stashbusters idea! I’m also notoriously bad about sticking to my themes/regimens/plans and have to make new ones all the time. Well, enough about that… I came here because I saw your card linked in our Double D challenge and wanted a closer look at its adorableness. It truly is adorable and clever. Beautifully colored and designed as is your way. I do love the sentiment and have many friends who would appreciate the humor. Thank you for regularly sharing with us. It’s been a treat to see your cards. Good luck with the draw. There are a lot of prizes in our 3rd anniversary celebration!

This is just adorable, and I love the way you used patterned paper for your wonky cross hatch die! It gives even more of a playful look in polka dots. I also craft on a budget and have to periodically go through my stash to see what I haven’t used yet. It’s always satisfying to ink up one of those unused goodies isn’t it?

Thank you 😊 Yes definitely satisfying! And especially because I try to keep my new/unused products set aside until I’ve used them at least once, so it’s nice to be able to actually properly file them away 😅
