I have some more inspiration to share for our pink and white theme over at the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge. The challenge is now halfway through, so there’s still time to play along for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to Your Next Stamp. For my previous card for the challenge, which you can see here, I made a birthday card. This time around I decided to create a Valentine’s card.
I started by assembling my bunny that makes the focal point of my card. I used the Cute Cat Bookmark dies and Cute Animal Add-Ons and die cut them from some snippets of white paper. Coloured or patterned papers could work too. I used Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers to colour my die cut pieces in.
I used Tombow Mono Multi liquid glue to attach the inner and outer portions of the ears together, then attached them to the back portion of my bunny which I had covered with double-sided tape prior to die cutting. I then laid the front of the number over the top, sandwiching the ears in between, and pieces the eyes into place too. The last die cut piece was a heart which I adhered across the bunny’s arms.
With the bunny completed I set it to one side whilst I worked on the rest of my card. I cut a snippet of pink paper and stamped a tone-on-tone pattern using the Simon Says Stamp’s Modern Rose Blooms background stamp and some Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide. I used the same Worn Lipstick ink to stamp my sentiment onto a long snippet of white. The sentiment I used comes from Simon Says Stamp’s Iconic Easter stamp set.
I trimmed the stamped patterned paper down to fit the top of my card base, and then adhered it into place with double-sided tape. I then used Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue to attach my bunny to my sentiment strip, and popped them both up on my card base with foam tape. The final touch for the card was a few Nuvo Drops in Simply White to either side of the sentiment strip.
Everytime I use these bookmark dies I am reminded of how stinking cute they are! This time was no exception. I’m really pleased with this card and think it definitely showcases the pink and white colour scheme well. I do think that if I were to make it again I would probably swap and have the pink pattern on the bottom portion of the card to help balance the design a bit better, but otherwise I’m very happy with it.
Love,
Lady Joyful
