WWC209 – Marsha’s Masculine “Anything Goes” Challenge

It was my husband’s birthday on Monday, and I thought the card I made for him would work well for our anything masculine goes challenge over at Watercooler Wednesday. I think this design could actually work well as a masculine or feminine card, and of course the colour scheme could always be changed up. I went with yellow as that is my husband’s favourite colour.

I began by creating my background for the card. I used the Uniko Background Block Party Confetti stamp and stamped it repeatedly across the card base with Catherine Pooler Limoncello ink. Once I was happy with the stamping I used a Pink and Main Scallop Wave die to create a panel to go over the top of the card base. I added a sentiment to the scalloped panel with the Birthday Sentiments from Uniko, using Butterbar ink from Hero Arts.

I wanted to add a cake to my card so I used the Cupcake Builder 1 from STAMPlorations to cut a snippet of white card. I used my  Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers to add colour to the elements, then used liquid glue to adhere the elements together.

With all of the pieces I needed ready I started assembling the card. I first attached my scalloped panel to my card base, then worked out the positioning the the cupcake to overlap both sections of the card. Finally I added some Glossy Accents to the icing on the cupcake to give it some fun, realistic shine.

I’m really pleased with this card. It was fun to make and definitely has a birthday feel to it. I love that it could easily be changed up to suit the recipient by changing the colours. I did think afterwards that the card might feel a bit more masculine if I’d used a flat edge wave rather than the scalloped one, but my husband didn’t seem to mind! 1. That cupcake looks good enough to eat, Charlotte! I LOVE the scalloped panel…but it is the yummy looking icing that steal the show! Thank you for sharing at The Paper Players!
