TMR 107 | You Colour My World | DIY

I’ve not been around much recently due to some health issues. I managed to find some of my crafting mojo again to create this card for the new challenge at The Male Room. I’m a little late sharing (the challenge went live yesterday), but better late than never! I’m hoping having this done is the start of getting back into the routine of making and sharing. Fingers crossed!

I decided to keep things quick and simple with this card. I chose the “colour my world” sentiment stamp from a Panduro Hobby stamp set which I believe is now retired. I used my MISTI to do the stamping and masked off the sentiment so that I stamped all but the “l” of colour. I used my go-to MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink for all the stamping. Once I had the masked sentiment stamped out I stamped the paintbrush from Simon Says Stamp’s Crafty Friends stamp set into the masked out gap to complete the sentiment. I also added a “you” from one of the sentiment stamps in the set to make the finished sentiment read “you colour my world”.

I chose alcohol markers to add colour to my card. I decided to use rainbow colours, so I picked out the ones I felt were most appropriate from my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers. I started with the green as my middle colour, and worked out from there. Initially I was planning on creating a single swoop of colour, as if the paintbrush was painting with rainbow paint. Instead I ended up creating a more organic look, almost tree-like or perhaps like branching streams. It’s different from what I had in mind, and I wasn’t sure if I liked it… I was considering starting over but my husband said he really liked it so I decided to go with it.

My inspiration for this card actually came from the very first card I made with the February 2018 Simon Says Stamp card kit, which is where the Crafty Friends stamp set came from. Whilst it may not be exactly what I’d initially had in mind I am quite pleased with how it turned out. I think it’s a fun design. As I said, I hope that now I’ve started creating again I will be able to get back into the flow of it and start sharing more regularly. I miss crafting, blogging and sharing videos with you all. 1. Lovely card, Charlotte! I also thought the swoosh of colors looks like a tree. Maybe to show how our varied personal interests bloom and grow to reflect the aspects of our life and the people in them? It was clever to use the paint brush as the “i” in your sentiment. Glad you are back into stamping again, and especially glad you shared your creativity with us at Watercooler Wednesday Challenges!!! -Donna
