Today I’m sharing another card for my snarky series, inspired by a stamp set from Chunky Monkey Crafts, who I am designing for. As with the other cards in this series I kept the design clean and simple, though this time the sentiment is more of an accompaniment to the technique. I also made an accompanying envelope to match the card.
I started by creating my faux marble element. I used Brusho powders for this. Initially I wanted a drip look to the paper so I added Sea Green Brusho to one edge of the watercolour card stock, then holding the paper at a slight angle I added drips of water to make the colour run down the panel. I didn’t like how it was looking though so I dragged the panel through the pooled coloured water that had collected on my craft mat.
I dried the panel and then worked on building more layers of colour by smooshing the panel into the Brusho water again. I kept working on building the layers, drying in between each layer. I wanted to increase the depth of colour so I also added in some Grey Brusho too.
Once I was happy with the Brusho panel and it was completely dry I cut the panel down. I created 5 strips for my card base as well as three others for the envelope. I also had more pieces left over that have gone into my snippets folder.
Taking my white card base I stamped the “you’re alright really” sentiment from Chunky Monkey Crafts’ Narky Finishing Sentiments 2 onto the lower right corner of the card base. I used MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink for this. I used the same ink to add my other sentiment to the envelope.
I added foam tape to the back of each of my strips and with the help of my T-square ruler I adhered them into place on my card base. I then used regular double sided tape to adhere the longer strips onto the flap of my envelope.
This card may have turned out really differently from my original plan, but I’m really happy with the end result. The Brusho panel really does have a fun marble-like look to it. I think I could have maybe played it up even more by adding some sparkle or maybe even foil, but it’s still fun as it is.
Don’t forget that Chunky Monkey Crafts is closing down once all the stock is cleared, so if you’ve been enjoying the projects I’ve made with this stamp set and would like one for your own, be sure to grab it soon before they’re all gone! Use the discount code below to save on your order.
