TMR 108 | Happy Easter | Spring

Are you ready for more masculine project inspiration? Today is the beginning of a new challenge at The Male Room, and this time around our theme is Spring. This is open for interpreting however you like. What does Spring mean to you? I decided to pull out my new goodies from Skull and Cross Buns and make an Easter card for my project.

I began my stamping the stripey Easter Egg from the Spring Motifs stamp set directly onto my card base. Using my MISTI I was able to make sure that my lines of eggs were evenly spaced and properly aligned. I stamped three lines of eggs using MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink, which is alcohol marker friendly.

I used one of the egg Jumbo Embellish! embellishments as my colour inspiration. I backed the egg with some yellow card to make it a yellow and purple egg. Then whilst that was drying I worked on my colouring.

I used my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers for colouring my stamped eggs. For the sake of speed I first used a light grey to add shading to each egg. I then used one yellow and one purple pen to colour the stripes of each egg.

Having completed my colouring I returned the card base to my MISTI and lined up the words I had chosen from Spring Sentiments so that I could stamp Happy Easter onto my card. I then used Glossy Accents to adhere my Easter egg embellishment over my lines of eggs, which completed my card.

I’m very pleased with this Easter card and I think it’s quite fun. The layout I used is great for clean and simple designs. Alternating the stripes of colour on the rows of eggs adds some extra interest, though I think maybe I should have done them the other way around. With the embellishment being mostly purple the colour might be a bit better balanced if I had done two rows of the mostly yellow eggs. In any case, that is my Spring card for The Male Room challenge using some of the new release goodies from Skull and Cross Buns. If you’d like more inspiration, head over to the challenge page or visit the other design team members blogs via the links below. I hope you feel inspired to head over and link up with us, and I can’t wait to see what you make!
