Chunky Monkey Crafts | Alright, Coffee | Pink Monochrome

Today I’m sharing another card for my snarky series, inspired by a stamp set from Chunky Monkey Crafts, who I am designing for. As with the other cards in this series I kept the design clean and simple. I used just one colour of ink for this card, which has a die cut coffee cup and stenciled splatter background to accompany the sentiment.

I started by stamping the Modern Rose Blooms Background from Simon Says Stamp with embossing ink onto a couple of snippets of white card. The snippets turned out not to be the same white card, so the white of one is slightly more cream in tone than the other is. I heat embossed with clear embossing powder, then ink blended over them with Spun Sugar Distress ink. I intentionally made one of the snippets slightly darker than the other so that there would be differentiation between the parts of the coffee cup.

Once I had completed the ink blending of the snippets I ran them through my die cutting machine with the Coffee Cup Die-namics from MFT. I then layered the cut pieces and adhered them together with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue.

With the die cut as a guide for positioning I ink blended onto my card base with the Art Splatters stencil from STAMPlorations and more Spun Sugar Distress ink. I did three splats, creating something of a visual triangle with them. I then used the Spun Sugar Distress ink to stamp my sentiment from Narky Sentiments 2 onto the card base, before finally adding the die cut coffee cup popped up on foam tape.

I’m pretty pleased with how this card turned out. The colours are soft and have a spring feel. I did have a lot of trouble with my photograph, though! No matter what colour background I used it did not look right, even with editing to fix the colour balance etc…. This was the best I could get, unfortunately. It looks much prettier in real life!
