CIC 469 | Mini Coffee | Shaped Cards | Lawn Fawn

We’re halfway through our current Cupcake Inspirations challenge, the theme of which is Shaped Cards. We are sponsored by Lawn Fawn for this challenge, and if you decide to link up with us you will have a chance to win a gift card. I didn’t actually use any Lawn Fawn products in this reminder post, but if you take a look at the card I made when the challenge started you will see I used several Lawn Fawn goodies for that.

I started by die cutting all the elements I needed for my card using the Coffee Cup Die-namics from MFT and several snippets of white card. I cut the body of the cup twice , the sleeve once, and the cap in its entirety once. I also cut a hinged version of the cap to use as the hinge element of my mini card. I did this by folding a piece of card and positioning the die such that the top slightly overlapped the fold.

Using my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers I added colour to the front elements of my card. I decided to go with a creamy beige colour for the main cup portion, and made the cup and sleeve more white with just a hint of grey for shadowing. I also coloured another snippet of white to be dark green and die cut the letters from that.

With everything coloured I started assembling the card using liquid glue for my adhesive. I attached the cap onto the hinge cap element first, then added the coloured front cup panel to the inside of the cap. I used that cup as a guide to help me position the uncoloured version and adhered that into place. I then attached the die cut letters onto the sleeve element before adding that on to my cup.

I’m pleased with this card. It’s pretty small but it’s cute! It was fairly simple to make, only requiring cutting, colouring and assembly. And I thought it was fun to make a shaped card that’s not as simple as just an oval (which is what I did last time).

I hope my card has inspired you to come and play along with us, and be sure to check out the projects from the rest of the Design Team. You can find them on the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge or directly on their own blogs via the links below.

Love,

Lady Joyful
