Today I’m sharing another card for my snarky series, inspired by a stamp set from Chunky Monkey Crafts, who I am designing for. With my other cards in the series I kept the designs quite clean and simple. This is still pretty clean, but with the full embossed background it is a little busy than the others have been.
I started by using a heart die to cut a snippet of love themed patterned paper to create my focal point. I then set it aside and embossed a panel of white card, cut just smaller than my card base, using the Leonie Pujol Growing Love embossing folder, which I was lucky enough to win in a giveaway a while ago.
Next I measured the heart against the embossed background to work out where I wanted my sentiment to be placed. I then cut out a 1.5cm strip from the panel so that I could stamp my sentiment into the gap. Using my cut away strip to help line all the pieces up, I placed the card in my MISTI, positioned the embossed pieces, removed the strip again and stamped my sentiment from Narky Sentiments 2 into place with Versafine Black Onyx ink.
I used Tombow Mono Multi liquid glue to adhere my top and bottom embossed panels to the card base, again using the extra strip to help ensure I had everything correctly aligned. I adhered the leftover strip on the inside of the card. Before adding my heart I edged it with black ink to help it pop from the background a bit more, and then attached it into place with foam tape.
Whilst this card does have more going on than my previous designs for Chunky Monkey Crafts, keeping the background white on white helps to prevent it looking too busy. I think the heart themed embossing folder works really well with the focal heart and the sentiment.
