I’m so excited to be participating in the Save The Crafty YouTuber hop! This is the third hop and the second that I’ve participated in. If you’re not familiar the hop was started by Justine Hovey to help crafty YouTubers (like me!) to reach their subscriber and watch time goals for their channels.
In my project for the hop I’m showing how to do rainbow ink blending and three ways to make cards with a completed ink blended panel. I actually originally worked on this video a couple of months ago but never got it published, so I added an extra card to it, changed the video up a bit, and used it for the hop!
I start with the ink blending. I have limited colours of Distress Oxides (and even less of Distress Inks!) but I managed to make do with what I have. I started with Festive Berries, followed by Wild Honey and Squeezed Lemonade. I then moved on to Lucky Clover, which was a bit of a tricky blend with the yellow, followed by Cracked Pistachio and then Mermaid Lagoon. As I don’t have a purple Oxide I created my purple by layering Worn Lipstick with the Mermaid Lagoon.
Card 1 – Focal Panel
For my first card I really let the ink blending take centre stage. I cut a panel of it to be the focal point, attached it to the card base, and edged it with Teal Mirror Peel-Offs. I then adhered a panel of black over the top. I die cut the hooray dienamic from some blue mirror card and added it over the black panel, before finishing off with a few Ebony Black Nuvo Drops.

Card 2 – Die Cut Imagery
I used the same layout for my second card, but this time I die cut the rainbow panel with the Band-Aids Die-namics. I also cut vellum for the square pieces of each plaster, and the hearts to add to them too. For my additional panel I used a piece of white and created black stripes with black glitter peel offs from Love From Lizi. I added a sentiment from Craftin’ Desert Divas’ Simply Said, then adhered all the elements together. I adhered the striped panel flat and added the plasters in a row with Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue. I then added my sentiment panel popped up on foam tape and finished off with a heart made of Simply White Nuvo Drops.

Card 3 – Die Cut Word
In my third example I used the ink blended background for die cutting a word. I used the same hooray die I had used on the first card. I wanted the rainbow word to be the focus of the card, but also wanted to add some interest. I chose to use the MFT banner die (retired). I first cut the stitched curve into the top of my card base. I then cut the banner elements themselves from vellum and also black card. I used my glue pen to adhere the vellum pieces in to place, ensuring that the glue was only on the top corners of each banner so it would later be hidden. I used Tombow Mono Multi liquid glue to attach the black banner pieces, offsetting them from the vellum pieces to give a fuller look to the banner. I then adhered the die cut sentiment into place and finished off with a few Simply White Nuvo Drops.

……….
I had so much fun creating these cards, and think they all turned out really well. I’d love to know which is your favourite. I think the second one is mine. My husband’s favourite is the first. Be sure to head on over to my YouTube channel, leave a comment there, and follow a link to the next stop on the hop to be entered in to win one of the many prizes available in the hop! There are so many talented crafters participating and I am so thankful to be able to be a part of it. Thank you so much for all your support, too!
