Chunky Monkey Crafts | Alright Summer | Lifted Ink Blending

Today I’m sharing another card for my snarky series, inspired by a stamp set from Chunky Monkey Crafts, who I am designing for. As with the other cards in this series I kept the design clean, though there’s much less white space on this than some of the previous ones have had! I was aiming for a summery looking focal point for this design.

I started by masking off the edges of my white card base. I then stamped my sentiment from Narky Sentiments 2 into the lower right hand corner and clear heat embossed it, before starting on the ink blending.

For the blending I started in the corner with the ink blending and used Festive Berries Distress Oxide. I moved from the Festive Berries into Worn Lipstick, though I later decided I didn’t like the worn lipstick and blended over it with the two colours next to it instead. My middle colour was Wild Honey, and for my lightest I used Squeezed Lemonade. I worked back and forth between the colours until I was happy with the coverage and blend that I had achieved.

I decided to add some texture and interest to the panel by lifting some of the ink. I first laid a floral stencil over the top of my panel, then pressed a wet baby wipe into the stencil, making sure to get into the openings well. The wet baby wipe lifted and oxidised the ink from my blending, leaving a subtle impression of the stamped design. Once I was happy with it I removed the masks and my card was complete.

I really love this colour combination and think it’s very striking and summery. The stenciling was an afterthought, not part of the original plan, but I think it adds to the summer vibe nicely and really helps to add interest to the card.
