There’s a new challenge starting at Christmas at Sweet Stampin’ today. This month we’re looking for non-traditional colours on your Christmas cards. Christmas may still be several months away but it’s never too early to get started on your cards. That way it’ll be less rush as the big day approaches!
I went for a very clean and simple design on my card. I started with a bauble stamp from a retired Pink and Main stamp set. I first stamped the outline in Volcano Lake, then used the rock and roll technique to stamp the solid part of the image with Mountain Mist and Volcano Lake.
I’d initially intended to mask off each bauble, but my second bauble bled through the mask and so I decided to allow the colours to show through slightly as though the baubles are made of glass. I stamped the second and third baubles the same way as the first, using Frosty Pink and Coral Berry for the second, and Soft Lilac and Lavender Fields for the third.
Whilst the card didn’t turn out exactly as I had originally intended I’m rather pleased with the result. I like how the baubles look with the overlap – it gives a very different look compared to if they would have been masked off. If my card inspires you to create a non-traditional Christmas card, or any Christmas card, then I hope you will come over and link up with us. And if you need more inspiration then be sure to check out the projects made by the rest of the team, either in the challenge post, or directly in their blogs via the links below.
