Camp Create – 5 Cards

After getting my 10 cards 1 kit post finished I spent my evening finishing up my Camp Create cards! It’s getting pretty late in my time zone but I just wanted to come in quickly and share them.

Card 1 – Galaxy Newton

For Day 1 – Wonderful Watercolor. I used my Gansai Tambi watercolour paints to create the galaxy background. I started by roughly layering several areas of colour – I used a yellow, teal, pinky red, and purple. Once I was happy with the colour I dried it with my Wow Dual Speed heat tool on setting one. I then painted over the whole panel with a fairly watery layer of dark blue. I dried again and repeated the process, keeping the colour darkest towards the edges. After drying the panel once more I bought in some black to darken the galaxy even more, dried it, and added stars by splattering on white, silver and a little gold. I then let it dry naturally whilst I painted my focal image.

I stamped the rocket from Newton Nook’s Cosmic Newton with MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink and used some of the same colours as I’d used for my background to paint the image. I used red for the accents of the ship, yellow for the star and blue for the window frame. For the rocket itself I initially used watered down black to add my shading. I then went back in with the silver paint to give a more metallic look. I used brown for the kitty and black for the inside of the space ship. Once the rocket was painted and completely dry I used a black pencil to go back over the lines to darken them up again. I then fussy cut the image out.

I assembled my card by trimming the background panel to the height of my card base. I then trimmed an inch off of one side and cut the next section to a panel of about 2 1/4 inches width. This was so that I could layer the background up to match the sketch I planned to use. I cut a piece of silver mat mirror card stock and adhered that to one edge of my panel. I used double sided tape to adhere the edge pieces of the galaxy to the card base, then popped up the centre piece on foam tape. I stamped and white heat embossed a sentiment onto the right hand side of my card. Before adding the rocket I stamped a planet onto the card base as well as onto a snippet of previous watercolouring. I fussy cut the planet and positioned it over the one I’d stamped on the card base so that the ring would be complete. I then adhered the rocket into place, completing the card.

Card 2 – Coffee Resist

For Day 2 – Remarkable Resist. I first used Simon Says Stamp’s Modern Rose Blooms Background to stamp directly onto my card base with embossing ink and heat embossed in clear. I realised afterwards that I must have moved the panel as I was stamping and the image is imperfect, but I decided it worked well enough. I then created a rough mask and ink blended a portion of the background using Distress Oxides in Festive Berries, Wild Honey and Worn Lipstick. I layered the Wild Honey and Worn Lipstick over each other as I wanted a coral shade. I then cut a snippet of purple with the MFT Coffee Cup Die-namics and stamped the same floral design onto it with Distress Ink in Milled Lavender. I cut the lid from a snippet of silver and layered them together. I used white for the sleeve of the coffee cup and added a sentiment from Love From Lizi’s  Sending Love stamp set in Catherine Pooler Twilight ink.

Card 3 – Congrats Shaker

For Day 3 – Spectacular Shakers. I went very simple for my shaker. I used STAMPlorations Congrats Word Art Die and cut it into a panel of white card cut to just smaller than my card base. I applied a double layer of foam tape, added Love From Lizi sequins and adhered to my card base. I finished off with some Love From Lizi mint glitter pinstripe peel-offs.

Card 4 – Coffee Slider Surprise

For Day 4 – Sensational Sliders. My slider card was a bit more involved and I had a couple of issues with the process that took me a while to solve. I first used the MFT Coffee Cup Die-namics to cut out a snippet of previously coloured card, as well as a silver lid and white sleeve. I then stamped the cut from Mama Elephant’s Three Amigos onto some Neenah 80lb card and coloured with my Spectrum Noir Illustrator markers before fussy cutting it out. I attached the cat to a strip of acetate and then added the lid just to the top of his head. I created a background panel with a piece of brown card, adding a table of sorts with the Altenew Wood Palette Background stamped with Barely Beige ink. I stamped a sentiment onto the coffee sleeve with Craftin Desert Divas Simply Said. I then die cut a banner and added pull me from Heffy Doodle’s Interactively Yours. I adhered the banner to poke out from the lid, then finished assembling my card.

Card 5 – Glittery Get Well

Day 5 – Glitzy Glitter. I kept my final card very simple. I used the MFT Band-Aid Die-namics to cut three white band-aids, three black pads, and then three hearts from red glitter tape. I used Tombow Mono Multi liquid glue to adhere the elements together. I stamped a sentiment from Craftin Desert Divas Simply Said onto a pink card base then popped up the three band aids in a row above it.
